Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our daughter Macey was due on the 31st may 2016. On the 16th February 2016 I went for my routine 25 week antenatal appointment. Although I felt well in myself I had very high blood pressure and was advised to go to GRH. Here I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and the following day rushed to st Michaels hospital in Bristol, the regional specialist hospital for neonatal intensive care. Scans here showed Macey had stopped growing at 23 weeks and was not receiving the nutrients she needed. On 20th February 2016 at 21.17 hours Macey was born by c section weighing just 551 grams.
Macey would spend the next 5 months at the NICU in Bristol never getting well enough to be transferred closer to home. I was able to spend every day and every night if I wished by her cot side thanks to cots 4 tots. Cots 4 tots provide accommodation on site at no cost to the families of babies from out of county in NICU. I had my own en suite bedroom, shared lounge and kitchen and more importantly little things like a phone in my bedroom connected straight to the hospital. Also the chance to share stories with other families and read the inspirational stories of families who had been there before providing hope. Macey is now a very happy and healthy 8 month old.
In order to raise funds for cots 4 tots to try and show some appreciation for the time spent with them we will be holding a quiz night and raffle at the Canterbury inn on Thursday 24th November 2016. All are welcome.
